Portable Line Boring
Mobile Bore Repair for Heavy Equipment, Attachments & Industrial Components
WeldWorX Collective Corp. provides Portable Line Boring services for equipment and components that have worn, damaged, oversized, or misaligned bores. This service helps restore proper fit, alignment, and function without requiring the entire piece of equipment to be hauled to a machine shop.
Our Mobile Line Boring service is designed for heavy equipment, oilfield, construction, agricultural, forestry, and industrial clients who need practical repair solutions that reduce downtime and extend the life of their equipment.
What Is Line Boring?
Line boring is a precision machining process used to repair or restore bores that have become worn, ovaled, damaged, or misaligned over time. The process allows the bore to be machined back to the correct size, shape, and alignment so pins, bushings, and moving components can fit and operate properly again.
When required, worn areas can be built back up with weld repair before machining the bore back to specification.
Common Applications
Portable line boring is commonly used on:
-
Excavator Booms, Sticks, and Buckets
-
Loader Arms and Linkage Points
-
Dozer and Grader Components
-
Rock Trucks and Heavy Equipment Frames
-
Agricultural Equipment
-
Forestry Equipment
-
Oilfield Equipment
-
Industrial Machinery
-
Pivot Points
-
Pin and Bushing Bores
-
Attachment Ears and Mounting Points
-
Worn or Damaged Hinge Points
Signs You May Need Line Boring
Your equipment may need line boring if you notice:
-
Loose pins or bushings
-
Excess movement in pivot points
-
Elongated or oval-shaped holes
-
Uneven wear
-
Poor attachment fit
-
Cracking around bore areas
-
Repeated bushing failure
-
Equipment movement that feels sloppy or out of alignment
Why Portable Line Boring Matters
Worn bores can lead to poor equipment performance, increased wear on pins and bushings, unsafe movement, and more expensive repairs if left too long. Portable Line Boring allows repairs to be completed on-site or closer to where the equipment is working, reducing transport time and helping get equipment back into service faster.
Our Process
Each Line Boring job is assessed based on the equipment, bore size, wear condition, access, and required repair. Depending on the scope, the work may include setup, alignment, bore measurement, weld build up, machining, test fitting, and final inspection.
If the bore is worn beyond tolerance, weld build up may be completed before machining. If pins or bushings are being replaced, those measurements should be confirmed before final machining.
